HISTORIC BOAT TRIPS ON THE LOIRE

Come aboard La Luciole to experience the Loire and its boating heritage. This is not the usual tourist trip boat but a replica of one of the boats that used to ply the river before the coming of the railways. La Luciole is a replica of a "toue cabanée". Althought a replica she is equipped for modern comfort and is insured to carry up to ten passengers.

In addition to being used for fishing a toue would house the master of a fleet of ships transporting produce from the area (hemp, wine, apples, slate and stone). To navigate on the river the skipper of a toue had to have a document to be shown at each port visited. This "passe-port" is the origin of our pasport that we use when we travel today.

Operating from the quayside in Le Thoureil the experienced skipper can take you for a picnic on an island, take you to the best places to fish or simply take you for a relaxing trip on the river. The choice is yours. Contact us for further details.
